Titleist 804 OS Forged Irons
The Titleist 804.OS Forged Irons are specially designed as game improvement clubs in order to bridge the gap between amateurs and pros. They’re easier to hit and offer better playability than the Titleist Forged 600 series. In fact, the benefits gained from the 804.OS rival the earlier Titleist DCI models. They’re cavity back irons, in order to give the maximum amount of forgiveness on off center shots, but they still have a blade-like style to them to guarantee excellent performance.
They’re forged from high quality stainless steel, which is heat treated to give it the same softness and feel as carbon steel. Also, because of the precision forging process that Titleist uses, the clubs are created in such a way as to need less polishing. The oversized head and enhanced offset gives a higher ball flight, but with great precision and accuracy. And Titleist’s new feature known as the “near U groove design” allows better spin performance in a wide array of conditions.
From an aesthetic point of view, the 804.OS irons are a little on the bulky side. If there is a drawback to this set of irons, that’s it. Many serious golfers tend to look down on clunky irons because they don’t give the same kind of feel as a traditional styled club. However, because these are game improvement clubs, eventually players will “graduate” onto using more traditional but less forgiving clubs.
Overall, the Titleist 804.OS Forged Irons are an excellent set of clubs for beginning or amateur golfers looking for a good set of clubs with a great combination of forgiveness and workability.
