Titleist 690 MB Forged Irons
The Titleist 690.MB Forged Irons are almost identical to the 690.CBs. The only major difference is that the CBs are a cavity back iron to add a slight measure of forgiveness, whereas the MBs are a blade. So, while they’re a little less forgiving, they makes up for that in playability because of the lower muscle position in the back and the minimal progressive offset.
Forged from mild 1025 carbon steel, the 690.MBs have that unique buttery feel that experienced golfers know and love, and the amount of feedback given from off center shots is excellent, as well. These clubs perform so well that they’ve been compared to the Mizuno MP 33s. While both sets of clubs provide ideal trajectory and control, it’s somewhat easier to find the sweet spot on the 690.MBs, and the severity of the feedback on off center hits is somewhat lessened. (In order words, it stings less.)
It has a slightly longer and deeper blade than some other irons on the market, but they still maintain the traditional appearance that many golfers prefer. They’re chrome plated, which helps to highlight the craftsmanship, as well as making the 690.MBs look excellent on the golf course, and they feature a True Temper Dynamic Gold Steel shaft with a Titleist Tour Velvet Full Cord Round grip.
All in all, the Titleist 690.MB Forged Irons are not intended for average or beginning golfers because of their extremely low level of forgiveness. However, in the hands of a skilled player, it’s easy to see why the 690.MBs are one of the best sets of clubs on the market today.
